HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Baseball team (2-6) is set for its home opening series beginning Friday at 3 p.m. against Fairleigh Dickson (0-7) at Jack Cook Field.

  • The Herd is coming off a series split Georgia Tech last weekend.
  • In Saturday's win, Griffin Miller hurled 5.0 innings on the bump to earn his first victory of the season.
  • Then on Monday, AJ Havrilla registered a seven-RBI effort on three hits as relieve Tim Baird threw three perfect innings with five strikeouts to earn the win.
  • Maika Niu and Jackson Halter each have a team-high 10 hits through the team's first six games as Ethan Murdoch leads the way with a .346 batting average and three homers.
  • Murdoch is tied with Havrilla for the team lead at nine RBI.
  • Fenix DiGiacomo has a team best eight strikeouts in a pair of starts with Nicholas Weyrich registering six across 7.0 frames with a save.
 
ABOUT THE KNIGHTS
  • FDU enters the weekend winless having been swept by UNC Asheville and Middle Tennessee with a midweek loss on Wednesday to Saint Peter's.
  • Jonathan Gomez leads the team with 12 hits and seven RBI.
  • On the mound, Jeremy Cheeseman and Cooper Montelbano each have five strikeouts in both of their starts to open the campaign.
