HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Baseball team (12-12, 2-4 SBC) fell in a narrow 2-1 game on Sunday to the James Madison Dukes (9-15, 4-2 SBC) in the series finale at Jack Cook Field in Huntington.
"It's a missed opportunity for The Herd today. We had an opportunity to win a home series, and we didn't take advantage of that opportunity today," Herd Baseball Head Coach Greg Beals said.
Going 2-for-5 at the dish, Maika Niu registered his 10th multi-hit game of the season.
Making his first start on the mound for MU, Clint Moak allowed just two runs, both unearned, on three hits and a walk in 2.1 innings.
Out of the bullpen, Charlie Krebs, Fenix DiGiacomo and Nicholas Weyrich combined to throw 6.2 hitless frames to end the ballgame.
The Herd's run came in the bottom of the sixth when Elijah Vogelsong touched home on a passed ball.
All three runs scored in the contest were unearned.
