Marshall Baseball Set to Welcome South Alabama

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Baseball (20-22, 6-12 SBC) returns to Jack Cook Field for a three-game series against the South Alabama Jaguars (17-21, 7-11 SBC) beginning Friday at 6 p.m.

PRE-GAME NOTES

The Herd captured a pair of midweek wins over Morehead State.
In the pair of games, Cam Harthan drove in 10 RBI, five in each game as Elijah Vogelsong reached base in 10 of his 11 plate appearances while scoring eight runs and driving home five. Vogelsong has drawn 35 free passes this season ranking third in the SBC.
MU has turned a conference high 32 double plays this season and ranks 18th nationally and a top the SBC with 15 triples.
AJ Havrilla leads The Herd with 30 as Harthan and Ethan Murdoch sit just behind at 29. Murdoch has a team-best nine multi-RBI games this season and eight homers.
Saturday's probable starting pitcher Griffin Miller sits fourth in the Sun Belt in ERA at 2.48.

ABOUT THE JAGUARS

South Alabama saw its midweek contest scheduled for Wednesday in New Orleans canceled but took its weekend series over Texas State.
At the plate, Brennan Holt leads the SBC with five triples and ranks third 13 doubles as Duncan Mathews sits fifth with a .352 batting average.
Saturday's probable starting pitcher Mitchell Herr sports a 5-1 record in eight appearances, five starts, with a 3.89 ERA and 1.12 WHIP.
Jaxon Shineflew, Friday's scheduled starter, has a team-best 43 strikeouts in 38.1 innings.
