HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Thundering Herd Track & Field program continues its season Saturday at home with the Marshall Alumni Classic.
Doors to the Chris Cline Athletic Complex open at 8 a.m. with field events starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. The first running event on the Jeff Small Track will be at 1 p.m.
The Herd will welcome back alumni of the program with a recognition set for 3 p.m. For any prospective alumni returning this weekend, view HERE.
Marshall T&F broke three school records to begin the 2025-26 season with the Marshall Opener in December. After the winter break, the Herd now opens 2026 with the first of five meets over the next six weekends.
"We can't wait to get started again, it's going to be a great weekend with our alumni weekend, we have many people coming back to support the team," Director of Track & Field Keith Roberts said. "We're also excited to see where our kids are at, winter break is a long time away from the team but I know they were putting in the work. We're excited for them to be back and to get the season rolling!"
For several athletes, including junior Taylor Spencer, Saturday's meet will be the season opener. The Waynesfield, Ohio native set PRs at the Sun Belt Conference Championships and NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships this fall.
"I am really excited to open up again, I know we had the meet in December but now is the time the season really gets going," Spencer said. "I know we have put in the work and are really excited. I am personally excited to debut a new event for me, the 3K. We are excited to see all the events shine this weekend!"
Over 25 new athletes debuted for the Thundering Herd at the Marshall Opener, including junior transfer Kylan Overstreet. The Hernando, Miss. native set a Top-3 program mark in the Long Jump to begin his Herd career.
"I think our team is in a really good place right now," said Overstreet. "We put in a lot of work over winter break, bought into the plan and stayed locked in, and we trust the process. I feel like we are prepared and ready to compete."
