Enters senior season as No. 13 career rusher in Herd history, despite having only one start in three seasons ... Has seven career 100-yard rushing games, topped by a 233-yard performance in a 2014 overtime loss to Western Kentucky, when regular starter Devon Johnson was limited to three carries by injuries ... With his breakaway speed, Butler has provided the Herd 21 carries of 20 or more yards, topped by his 83-yard touchdown run in 2014 at Southern Miss ... Is the only player in Herd history with two rushes of 72 or more yards (both for TDs) ... Has 7.0 career rushing average per carry, topping Erik Thomas' school career mark of 6.5 from 1993-96 (senior Devon Johnson is at 8.0 ypc in career).
R-JUNIOR SEASON (2014): Was Herd's No. 2 rusher with 798 yards on 107 carries, which included only 6 yards of losses ... His 7.46 yards per carry ranked 15th in the nation ... Scored seven touchdowns, bringing his career total to 18 -- No. 15 in Marshall career history ... Also caught three passes for 21 yards ... Ran 24 times for 233 yards and two scores in the loss to WKU (Nov. 28) and also had 100-yard rushing games against Ohio (19-for-119) and Southern Miss (5-for-118, including the 83-yarder) ... The 233-yard game ranks No. 6 in MU single-game annals ... The 83-yard TD run was the Herd's longest rush in 15 years, since Doug Chapman's 87-yard TD in a 1999 Motor City Bowl win over BYU ... Made first career start in Conference USA championship win over Louisiana Tech.
R-SOPHOMORE SEASON (2013): In 12 games, ran for 765 yards on 87 carries with eight touchdowns, including an 8.8 yards-per-carry average that ranked third nationally ... Had a season-high 151 rushing yards and three touchdowns against Gardner-Webb ... Also eclipsed the 100-yard mark against UAB (139) and Miami of Ohio (107) ... Also caught three passes for 23 yards ... Returned six kickoff for 132 yards, including 45-yarder.
R-FRESHMAN SEASON (2012): Played in 11 games (missed Houston) ... Posted 101 carries for 500 yards, including a 166-yard performance in 18 carries against Rice (Sept. 22) ... Six receptions for 31 yards ... Returned four kickoffs for 97 yards ... Had one tackle on special teams.
FRESHMAN SEASON (2011): Redshirted to retain eligibility.
HERD FILE: Born June 28, 1991 ... Majoring in Health Sciences at MU ... Rushed for 2,934 yards on 294 carries with 30 touchdowns as a Lakeland High School senior, the No. 3 Florida high school single-season rushing total ... Broke numerous LHS records previously owned by former Florida star Chris Rainey ... Also had offers from West Virginia, USF, UCF, Arizona State, Boston College, Cincinnati and Rutgers.
