JUNIOR SEASON (2015): Emerged as reliable Z receiver for the Herd, playing in all 13 games at outside receiver … Besides starting at Z in second half of season, rangy, fleet pass catcher was senior Davonte Allen’s top backup at the X spot … Backup in first seven games, then made first collegiate start in Oct. 24 win over North Texas and started remainder of games … Had four catches for 45 yards and season-long 35-yarder in that first start … For season, made 20 catches for 295 yards and four touchdowns … Top game was five-catch, 68-yard day in win over Norfolk State … Opened season in 41-31 home win over Purdue with two crucial catches … Made 16-yard, first-down catch from quarterback Michael Birdsong to the Boilermaker 22 – leading to a Nick Smith field goal in the third quarter. Then, Marshall came from a fourth-quarter deficit as Hunt made a crucial 9-yard, third-down reception for a first down early on the Herd’s go-ahead drive … Had TD grabs against Norfolk State, North Texas, FIU and Western Kentucky … Also a regular on special teams … Has 35-inch vertical leap.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2014): Played in seven games, mostly on special teams and also as backup outside receiver … Made seven receptions for 119 yards (no touchdowns) … Had season-long 39-yard catch in win at FIU … Made two catches in two games (Akron, Middle Tennessee) … One catch versus Middle was 30-yarder … Made one solo tackle on special teams (FIU).
FRESHMAN SEASON (2013): One of only seven true freshmen to play for Herd … Played in 13 of 14 games, mostly on special teams … Had two receptions for 48 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown from backup QB Blake Frohnapfel in win over FIU.
HERD FILE: Born March 15, 1995 … Majoring in Management at MU … Chose Marshall over offers from hometown Memphis, Arkansas State and Western Kentucky … Helped Whitehaven win the Class 6A state championship (the first state title in school history) … Finished senior season with 21 catches for 405 yards and four touchdowns for the Tigers … In spring of 2013 as Whitehaven senior, ran the 100 hurdles in 14.34 for a state AAA track title; also finished third in the 300 hurdles at 39.06 (.40 off his qualifying time).
