Track and Field Earns Best Finish In School History At C-USA Indoor Championships

Two All-Conference USA performances Sunday
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Marshall track and field secured its best finish in program history Sunday at the 2021 Conference USA Indoor Championships at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Out of 12 schools, Marshall finished sixth with 50 points. Since joining Conference USA in the 2005-06 season, Marshall's previous high point total at an indoor championship meet was 45 (2020) and its best placement was seventh (2017).
"This was the best indoor championship we have had because it was a total team effort," head coach Jeff Small said. "We scored in every event area at the meet: multis, sprints, hurdles, throws, jumps, relays and distance."
Marshall athletes earned All-Conference USA honors in six different events, which is the most placements on the all-conference team the program has ever had at a C-USA Championship meet, indoor or outdoor. The previous high was five (outdoor, 2013 and 2019).
Sophomore Mikah Alleyne earned All-Conference USA honors in the 400 meter dash finals with a second place finish and time of 55.67. She earned eight team points with Marshall's third silver medal of the meet.
Freshman Tori Dotson finished third in the 800m finals with a time of 2:15.05 to earn six team points for Marshall.
Dotson is the first Marshall runner to earn All-C-USA honors in the 800m in school history, and the first Herd individual freshman to earn all-conference honors since Ashonti Warner in 2019 (outdoor 400 meter hurdles).
Senior Taylor Robinson finished seventh in the 60 meter hurdles to earn two team points. She scored points in the event all four years of her career at the C-USA Indoor Championships.
