Herd falls to ULM in series finale

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Baseball team (23-28, 13-14 SBC) celebrated Senior Day on Sunday in the series finale against ULM at Jack Cook Field.

The Herd fell to the Warhawks 7-5.
Â
"Being Senior Day, you really want to win on Senior Day and send that group of seven out with a victory. So that's the disappointing part," Herd Baseball Head Coach Greg Beals said.

Marshall honored Tim Baird, Bryce Blevins, Jackson Halter, Drew Harlow, Cam Harthan, Ethan Murdoch and Cleary Simpson in a pregame ceremony for their contributions to the program.

Halter and Murdoch each homered in their final at-bats at Jack Cook Field while registering two hits each as Murdoch also had a two RBI contest.

Evan Bottone, AJ Havrilla, Mason Onate and Jackson Golden also registered multi-hit efforts in the contest.

ULM grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the third. However, a Tyler Kamerer RBI single in the fourth with a Murdoch sacrifice fly and a Jack Smith RBI single in the fifth saw MU grab a 3-2 lead.

The Warhawks answered with a run in the sixth, three in the seventh and one in the ninth put Marshall at a 7-3 deficit.
Â
Halter and Murdoch's homers cut the ULM advantage to 7-5 in the bottom of the ninth, but MU's comeback fell short.

The Herd looks to a home contest against Virginia Tech on Tuesday.
