Bio
Finished three-year Marshall career with 40 starts (in 41 games) at free safety, ranking second among in Herd history among defensive backfield performers to cornerback Darryl Roberts (42 games, 2010-14) during major-college era (1953-81 and 1997-present) ... Played more than 2,700 snaps for Herd ... Posted eight interceptions to go with 15 pass breakups and 224 tackles (113 solos) ... Forced two fumbles with one fumble recovery ... Had seven games with double-figure tackles in career ... Graduated with Management degree in December 2014, then worked on his MBA during his final two semesters in school ... Worked out before scouts from 20 NFL and two CFL teams on Marshall's Pro Day on March 9.
SENIOR SEASON (2015): ... Named All-Conference USA Honorable Mention and was elected by teammates as one of four co-captains for the season ... Started all 13 games in Herd's 10-3 season, and was key performer on Marshall defense that ranked in the top 10 nationally in seven categories, including scoring defense, pass efficiency defense and takeaways ... Played a team-best 964 snaps on defense ... Ranked third among the Herd with 80 tackles (43 solos), including 3.5 for loss. Had three interceptions (one each in first three games of season) and seven pass breakups ... Had season-best 12 tackles in loss at Middle Tennessee; also posted 10 tackles in win at Charlotte.
JUNIOR SEASON (2014): Started all 14 games, playing 834 snaps for C-USA title team, one of six Herd players on defense to make every start ... Ranked third among Herd tacklers, with 90 (46 solo) ... Had career-high 15 tackles in 67-66 overtime loss to Western Kentucky ... Had 11 tackles in Boca Raton Bowl win and 10 in C-USA title win over Louisiana Tech. ... Posted 10 tackles versus FAU ... Tied fellow safety AJ Leggett for team lead with four interceptions (against Rhode Island, Ohio, Southern Miss, WKU) ... Had 31 yards in interception returns ... Four pass breakups on the season.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2013): Started 13 of 14 games at free safety (missing Southern Miss) ... Finished with 50 tackles (24 solos) and had first career interception in C-USA East Division-clinching win over East Carolina ... Forced a fumble in victory over UAB and also posted his top tackling game, with 11 ... Had seven tackles in three-OT loss at Virginia Tech ... Also had four pass breakups.
HERD FILE: Born June 29, 1993 ... Enrolled at Marshall in January 2013 and earned undergraduate degree in Management in December 2014; seeking MBA ... Picked Marshall over Arizona, Baylor, Charlotte, FIU, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana-Lafayette, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Purdue and South Alabama ... Did not play 2012 season at Holmes CC, suffered a season-ending injury on the first day of preseason practice, when he tore a ligament in his right ring finger and underwent surgery ... High jumped 6-8 in Georgia high school regional meet ... Had 59 tackles and 10 pass breakups for Holmes CC in 2011.
